Is Liverpool’s season back on track after a nail-biting Carling Cup triumph over Cardiff City? Is Arsenal’s season back on track, after battling back from the brink to thump Tottenham at the Emirates? Is Andy Carroll angling for a lucrative shampoo endorsement deal? That’s right, all the big questions answered in this week’s SREP!

Good podcast. Agreed with most of what Eoin said about LFC but would add:

    – the base for future LFC success is in how they made it to the final. Can’t imagine them for the prior 2 seasons being able to beat Brighton, Stoke and Chelsea away and Man City over 2 games. Genuine cause for some optimism there
    – the performance in the final was almost identical to games against Norwich, Swansea, Blackburn at home and Wigan away in the league. Lots of chances but unable to put away inferior opposition despite dominating possession
    – my prediction for the rest of the season – lots of draws
    – slightly harsh picking on Suarez in the final. Steven Gerrard’s saved penalty was his first shot on target all game
    – that said Suarez looks like a lot of LFC players this year. Unable to perform at his highest level under the weight of greater expectations. When Liverpool put 5 past Fulham at Craven Cottage towards the end of last season, Danny Murphy said that they would find it harder to do going forward with more pressure on them. He was 100% right
    – Dirk Kuyt always looks better playing through the middle. It’s his best position. Too often he has been shunted to the right. In that respect he has a lot on common with the lamentable Jordan Henderson
