The Soccer Report Extra Podcast… you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!  In a special episode of the SREP, Bobby & Eoin comb through the knit-wits of world football, and pick out the meanest of the mean, the nastiest of the nasty, the worst of the worst… the Hated XI. Leave your comments below if you think some other lowlife is more deserving (or was that less deserving) of a spot in the most horrible first-team ever assembled.  Oh, and we’re still looking for some coaching (and staff) suggestions too.  Enjoy!

    Oh, Soccer Report Extra Extraaaaaaa.

  2. Kenneth says:

Rafa Benitez for most hated coach

  3. Abdi Sharif says:

Pepe has to be the worst of the worst for his stomp on Leo Messi.

  4. Adrienne says:

Where is Robert Huth on that compilation?

  5. GRN says:

I was surprised Didier Drogba wasn’t mentioned. But for manager, I can’t remember someone more hated than the self proclaimed “special one”

  6. Javier says:

Pepe! he’s not a soccer player!! the only thing that he knows is kick the others!, in 2nd place Terry and suarez everybody knows why!

  7. tdot says:

What’s the website Eoin mentions at the beginning of the podcast?

  8. tim villarreal says:

Eoin, you mention a website at the start of this podcast called …balls.iv????? or am i grammatically challenged today? can’t understand what you said, could someone type it out or add a link for me…thanks guys

  9. Ed Gomes says:

I’m sorry for coming late on this one, but I just haven’t had time to listen to the podcast. I apologize if I repeat anything that’s been mentioned.

Von Bommel is the most hated for me. He is the master of flopping forward on headers. He’s gone down as soon he feels the opponents breath. He’s also the master of the professional foul where he stops breaks. The problem is that he does this a ton of times a match yet doesn’t get punished. If the flopping and acting wasn’t enough, he’s also one of the dirtiest players in the game. He knows exactly what he’s doing when taking a man down hard.

Busquets is a mirror copy of Von Bommel. His play acting is even more effective, since it has earned numerous undeserving yellow and red cards for opponents. He is the ultimate match killer.

The above two could be the type of players that people despise, but love to have on their teams. For me I’m too far along and wish everything bad for both of them.

Peep is insane. He is unable to hold his temper in check, sometimes at critical times. People lately think that it’s just against Barca but he’s done this against plenty of mid and lower level teams.

Terry for me has more to do with his behavior in the dressing room. He has gone behind numerous managers and players backs. Incredibly his play has slipped tremendously and it seems as if his power has as well. If this was two years ago AVB would have been out the door by now.

The picture that I see missing is Dani Alves. Everything single time he goes down, he acts as if his leg was broken. He will roll and roll in agonizing pain, and once the card comes out he pops up and takes a quick free kick. By the way, the supposed outrageous kick Pepe gave him last season wasn’t. There’s video proff that Pepe never made contact. Yes inten was there and a foul or card could have been given, but Alves rolled around in pain after not being touched.

DeJong is also a very dirty player. Maybe even more dirty when playingn for the Netherlands.
Mascherano used to be the same type of hard nosed player, but he’s fallen off the planet while at Barca.

Mourinho has to be the most despised. He is loved by the players that are able to stick and hated by the ones that don’t. Fans also love to hate him.

Rafa to me is the most hated by owners. Here’s a guy that apparently interviews and cons owners, but yet has failed miserably. He’s lost plenty of money for clubs. Wenger has at least been earning money for Arsenal.

Any thoughts on the most hated club?

  10. Roger says:

Great podcast! Had me laughing most of the way thru. My vote is for “The Special One” for most hated Manager. With his attitude, eye gouging, or was that an ear twist. I mean come on he is the leader of the team and he pulls that crap! Also, the way Real Madrid’s game against Barca always ends up in a hack fest once they realize they aren’t going to win again.

  11. Ed Gomes says:

Roger, you must of not watched the 2nd leg of the Coppa. Real pressed and attacked while Barca rolled around and stalled. I was surprised that even Pique resorted to those tactics. I wasn’t surprised that Cesc did.
By the way I am far from a Mourinho fan or apologiest.

As for Mourinho he has always prefered the us vs the world mentality. Hence him being the most hated

  12. rdm says:

Well then Ed you’ll probably enjoy this clip of Andres Dias making sure that van Bommel’s dentist remains employed well into the future.

  13. Eoin O'Callaghan says:

Tim, sorry. Just saw this now. The website is called balls.ie. Hosted in Ireland.

  14. tim villarreal says:

    C. Ronaldo said that the fans are jealous of him because he is rich, good looking and a great footballer. i believe i read Ronaldo also was talking smack to a lower level player on an opposing team and Ronaldo asked him how much he made a week. knowing he(CR7) makes more than triple the other player. Disrespect is why Ronaldo should make the list.

  15. tim villarreal says:

thanks Eoin… great site…adding it to favorites

  16. Ed Gomes says:

RDM, I would be lying of I said I didn’t enjoy it.
    Almost feel guilty.

  17. Ed Gomes says:

RDM, I almost forgot. If you take a look at the footage carefully, von Bommel elbows Dias, which causes the reaction.
I absolutely hate the guy. He hardly ever gets caught, and then the retaliation gets nabbed. Glad to see that Dias got away with it.

  18. Sarati says:

My favourite podcast of all! Still laugh when I listen to it.

I also have to go with the Special One as manager. Nobody else is as cold-bloodedly ruthless, as you said. Or at least they’re not as obvious about it.
