Back in the seventies as soccer fans around the world took notice of the North American Soccer League (NASL) players travelled in droves to the US and Canada from overseas.

Some arrived on loan from their domestic teams and played in the NASL for a summer before returning home. Others finished up making North America their home and former NASL stars can still be found right across the continent.

It was almost unheard of back then for players to travel in the other direction. But that was exactly what a young goalkeeper named…..
