Ten More Questions For Sunday

1.    Sunderland have only won one of the last ten Barclays Premier League at home, drawn another and lost eight. Nonetheless, they are unbeaten at home against Stoke in their last nine. Can run this streak to double figures?

2.    And there is more good news for Sunderland. Sunderland have never conceded a goal to Stoke at the Stadium of Light in a Premier League match. Can they make four consecutive clean sheets against Stoke at home?

3.    Dirk Kuyt currently sits on a total of 49 Premier League goals. Can he hit the half-century mark when Liverpool travels to White Hart Lane to play Tottenham Hotspur?

4.    Over the last eight meetings it has been a case of all or nothing when Liverpool have played Spurs. Will we see a split of the points or even a goalless draw – something that these two sides last dished up 15 games ago?

5.    Fulham have a fine home record in 2011 having lost only once. Can they avoid it becoming two when Manchester City come calling to Craven Cottage?

6.    Can Chelsea bring the Manchester United goal-scoring juggernaut to a halt by recording their first Premier League shut out at Old Trafford since a 3-0 win back in 2001?

7.    Wayne Rooney has scored eight Premier league goals already this season. He has also scored 3 times against Chelsea in his last 6 Premier League appearance although he failed to find the net in his first ten games against Chelsea in the league. Can Rooney add to his eight goals this season against Chelsea?

8.   Barcelona scored eight goals against Osasuna on Saturday bringing their goals for total to 15 in three La Liga matches. Can Real Madrid score six or more against Levante to stay ahead Barca?

9.    Napoli currently enjoys an eleven game scoring run – the best in Serie A. Can Napoli extend that run to a dozen when they host last season’s Champions Milan?

10.    Celtic and Rangers line-up in the first Old Firm derby of the season. Five players have been sent in the last 5 Old Firm clashes. Will we see six in six (or more) or will peace and love break-out?

I was going to write something about #8 but luckily I refreshed the page to see if any one else already commented and I noticed the change.

For a minute, I thought you were taking a nap betweeen 2:30 and 5 pm ET today.

  2. Gus Keri says:

NYRB without Henry, Marquez, Miller and Soli tonight and playing away against Dallas, one of the best, and already using more offensive formation than last week.

I don’t know if this was intentional or by necessity.

    re: NYRB

Dallas also missing some key players like Brek Shea. On paper, this NYRB side is much stronger…. but then again we got “Backe the dolt” and Dallas has the wily Shellas Hyndman.

    re Liverpool
You guys have a tighter defense then Tottenham but I think King Kenny made life extremely difficult for himself by releasing Meireles and relying on Henderson who is garden variety IMO. 4th place totally up for grabs between, ARS, LIV, TOT and BLA after their awesome display against Arsenal and rumors of David “Hair Model” Beckham crossing the pond to get to Chicken Farm FC! 🙂

  4. Gus – game was delayed in Canada but sleep would have been a better and more advised option. Shocking game.

  5. Gus Keri says:

I thought Lucio should have been red carded today for kicking the goalkeeper in the head and sending him to the hospital with concussion.

And yes it was a horrible game. I was hoping for a more entertainingly competitive game than the joke that was taking place on other channel: “Barcelona sweeping all aside”.

  6. Gus Keri says:

A great win by NYRB: 1-0

This is one of the best game played by NYRB.
The best defensive display since the arrival of the DP Marquez.
Oh! Wait! did I say he wasn’t playing?

The other DP, goalkeeper Rost, had a wonderful game.

  7. Soccerlogical says:

Gus – Just another few former top European players like Rost, Tainio, Marquez and Henry and a few more top MLS signings for Backe to try out and see who works and who doesn’t and Backe may actually win some silverware in a season or two… or 10.

  8. Gus Keri says:

Among the 4 foriegners you mentioned I would agree only on Marquez. Since he came back from the Gold Cup, he is not able to replicate his form with team at the begining of the season.

I feel more secure with Tainio in the team. Rost has played very well yesterday. And I always want to see Henry in the team. He picked up his game significantly since last season.

  9. Soccerlogical says:

Gus – My point was that Backe don’t know his ass from his elbow.

Playoff system or not, the talent Backe has and had (i.e DeRo, Angel, etc) to work with when compared to the rest of the league (except LA) is the equivalent of a Madrid or Barca fighting for relegation with 5 games left.

What do you think those fans or any other fans would have done by now… Backe would already be back in Sweden Pike Ice Fishing!
