Liverpool v Manchester City

  • Both teams have very good defensive records having each conceded just 11 goals this season
  • The major difference has been in the opposition’s penalty area; City can look to the ruthlessness of Aguero, Dzeko and Balotelli; Liverpool have created chances but have not converted like they should
  • Example – Luis Suarez 50 attempts on goal but leads league with the most shots off target – 23
  • City have scored 42 goals and Liverpool 16
  • Three straight home draws have been costly for Liverpool but are unbeaten in their last 7
  • Liverpool has allowed only 2 first half goals this season
  • Liverpool has yet to score directly from a cross from open play and only once from a corner.
  • City take few risks pushing forward looking for offside – Liverpool tend to be caught off side a lot
  • The crossbars and posts may get tested as Liverpool and City have both hit the frame 8 times this season – league high

AC Milan v Chievo

  • Milan have taken 16 points from their last possible 18
  • Milan are top scorers in Serie A with 23 goals (15 at the San Siro)
  • Milan had the better of Fiorentina last week but game finished 0-0 and it
  • ended a run of 5 straight wins
  • Milan has had 11 different scorers this season and the added bonus of an own goal as well
  • Chievo’s Sergio Pellissier is one goal short the century mark
  • Chievo beat Catania 2-1 away last Sunday for their first away win of the season
  • Last weekend’s 2 goals away doubled their away output
  • USA midfielder Michael Bradley has started in last 10 games for Chievo but has not scored so far
  • Chievo have only scored 10 goals in 11 rounds of play – 7 have come in final 30 minutes of the game

Marseille v PSG

  • Last weekend Marseille lost away to Montpellier and PSG lost at home to Nancy (sitting in relegation zone) – both 1-0
  • Marseille’s 4th loss and PSG’s 2nd
  • Marseille are 12 points behind joint leaders PSG and Montpelier and in mid table
  • Champions League loss to Olympiakos marked the first time that Marseille have lost two consecutive home European games
  • Marseille haven’t won a league game this season against teams currently occupying the top-half of the table this season.
  • PSG loss last weekend ended a 12-game unbeaten run
  • PSG’s Kévin Gameiro has failed to score in his last eight outings for club and country – but going into this weekend he was still the league’s top scorer with 8

  1. Taking requests on any stats using the Stats Index feature that you would like looked at from the Liverpool – Manchester City game. Obviously a limit to what can be done but I will do my best.

  2. Gus Keri says:

    Liverpool line up:

Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Kuyt, Suarez.

    Man City line up:

Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Yaya Toure, Barry, Milner, Silva, Nasri Aguero

The battle for the midfield is going to be intense
I hope Liverpool will reverse their home form. Too many draws and wasted opporunities.

  3. Gus – I sent you an email – two different addresses – did you get it?

  4. Gus Keri says:

Sorry Bobby for the late response.

After the Liverpool game, I went out to enjoy one of the rare beautiful end of November (Autumn) day in New York City with close relatives visiting from out of town.
