Like that scene from the movie “The Jerk” (when Steve Martin’s character flips out with glee at the arrival of the new phone book), THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS HERE! THE PREMER LEAGUE IS HERE! In Part 1 of the BPL Season Preview, Bobby and Eoin start at the bottom and work their way up… taking a look at the three newly promoted teams, and those teams that made heavy weather of retaining Premier League status last season. Parts 2 & 3 of the season preview will be posted later in the day on Friday, August 17th… enjoy!

I believe the correct term is “Mid-table Mediocrity” 🙂

Terrific preview. Since I’ve been following the Premier League for two seasons now and still don’t have a team I support, I was thinking that I might do a once-a-season, Adopt-a-Team thing. Any recommendations?

    Wigan.

    The answer is always Wigan.

    Gillian,
Supporting a team is fundamentally an emotional decision (the rational component of your cognitive processes play a minor role — for most fans, though, not all).

So make up your mind based on what your feelings are telling you.

For me, I have a simple rule: Anyone but Alejandro.

So during the season, I dispassionately follow the other 19 teams and I hope for the best ultimate outcome — namely, that one of them will at the very end of the season take the top spot and prevent Alejandro from winning another title.

    Simple, really.
