Guys you probably need to provide transcripts to this. It’s already being misquoted all over Twitter!

  3. paddy says:

anybody that pays 70 millon + for downing.henderson, and carrol deserves the boot !!

  4. acha says:

Comes across with a lot of humility. But Carroll, Downing and Adam are not just failures, they’re catastrophes.

  6. Roberto Senyera says:

I agree with Paddy except for one caveat — maybe this French fella was the scapegoat for KD’s profligate spending? I’m thinking that Scotsman okayed all the buys although not at all those ridiculous prices. Nevertheless, that’s the last scapegoat for KD, no matter how great he was at Anfield.

This one is for you. Can you say Manchester United implosion?

    I can.

Eight points up about a month ago and now sitting firmly in second. That’s the definition of an implosion.

If Arsenal did the same as Old Red Nose’s crew during the past month then the English press would be all over Wenger. But Old Red Nose gets a free pass — nice team selection, defensive 4-5-1, if you like turtles … and you can’t win if you don’t get a single shot on target (own goals notwithstanding).

There’s a new sheriff in town folks. And he’s not wearing red.

    And it’s far past time.

  9. This man was hired by John Henry to make personnel decisions. As an advocate of “money ball” tactics he brought in expensive players who didn’t fit the existing system. His actions run contrary to money ball theory but that’s a baseball formula being applied to football, as he states. He should study Newcastle as they raided his backyard, bought players on the cheap and bought quality. Comolli was employed by Arsenal before lfc and did the same thing. Dalglish probably had little say about the squad he was handed. Nice job Eoin!

  10. funkymonk says:

Liverpool sacked the wrong man. It’s clear all the signed failings had been KD choices.

  11. Ed Gomes says:

King Kenny, Harry and AVB, Wengers saviours.

Let’s just say that more firings are due at Liverpool.
No matter who made those signings.
Red Sox fans are going to go crazy if more money gets spent at Liverpool while they struggle.

  12. rdm says:

I love the way people pretend to know exactly who has the authority to sign players and how it’s so easy to diagnose and obviously person X’s fault. Good grief.

  13. Alberta Gooner says:

Fantastic journalistic coup on getting this interview! Well done.

It never fails to amaze me how many people who visit Bobby’s blog hold their UEFA Pro License but appear to struggle to grasp very simple elements of the game that are easily understood by my 12-year-old son. “Good grief” are not the words that spring to my lips whenever I read some of this drivel.
