The loss to Stoke was a dreadful blow to Arsenal’s hopes of challenging for the Premier League title. With very tough fixtures against Spurs, Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City coming soon dropping three points against Stoke was something Arsenal could ill-afford.
Within 24 hours there were blogs and articles commenting on the loss and pundits chiming in on radio and TV. The common view was essentially that “Arsenal was heading for another late season Premier League collapse.”

With their team currently sitting 5th in the Premier League and only seven points behind league leaders Chelsea, Spurs’ fans are thinking of a top four finish and a chance to compete in next season’s Champions League. This was a FA Cup weekend but with the top four clubs drawn against each other it was hard to escape the grasp of the Premier League. When the league reached the half-way stage during the packed holiday schedule many pundits pointed to at least seven teams that had a realistic chance of winnining the 2014 Premier League
